Lesley show

Color coats surfaces, signals emotion, prompts consumption and categorizes self image. As an artist, a woman and an optimist, my identity and sense of color are highly intertwined. The assembled boxes in this show each start with a named house paint (e.g., Benchmark, Head over Heels, Primavera) and then re-inscribe it with life experience. The paintings present various components of identity (wellness, fashion, home, and life purpose) against the backdrop of Happy color. I see this work as a series of personal color equations that both support and challenge the notion of happiness.
